A.C.T. RADIATION COUNCIL

2. Terms of Reference

To administer the Radiation Act 1983. The Council is responsible for:

• granting licences (s20) in relation to the use of radioactive material and irradiation

apparatus;

• registration of irradiating apparatus (s48);

• to advise on "prescribed qualifications" for a licence;

• to advise on and approve the disposal (s68) and transportation (s74) and storage of

radioactive material; and

• directing licensees (s44) in situations where the health of-employees may be at serious

risk.
