The basic guidelines for the relationship between Ministers and

Executive Deputies together we-; the Chief Ministers comments

in the Assembly on 14 December 1989 are attached. These

comments highlight the three basic principles behind the

arrangements particularly the importance of the role of tae

Executive Deputies in providing an additional source of advice

and assistance to the Ministers in the exercise of their

3. The Ezecu-tive Deputies:

The Chief Ml.--4ster has two Executive Deputies

Norm Jensen - Planning Environ-Tent Heritage and

Leasehold Management

Ca_rmel Maher - Social and Family Police

4. Agencies: -

Mr Jensens subject matter involves three agencies which are the

direct responsibility of the Chief Minister:

- Territory Planning Office

- Social and Family Policy Division

(Environment and Planning Coordination

Section). Liaison would be required with the

Environment Protection Unit (OEM)

- Development Division (OID)

Ms Mahers subject matter involves the Social and Family Polio

Division which is the direct responsibility of the Chief

Minister.. Liaison would be, necessary with Community. Services
