The terms of reference for the Mental Health Advisory Council are:

to advise the Minister for Health and the Secretary of the Department on mental health legislation and the delivery and development of mental health services in the ACT.

A member may resign his or her office by placing the resignation in writing and forward to the Minister for Health.
