The terms of reference of the Veterinary Surgeons Board are:

to administer the Act, principal functions include;

registration of suitably qualified veterinary surgeons to enable them to practice in the ACT; discipline of practitioners through reprimand/suspension/cancellation of registration after due inquiry on specified grounds; consideration of complaints against registered practitioners; and general oversight of the conduct of the profession in the ACT.

3. Term and Power of Appointment

The Chair is appointed for a period determined by the Minister. All members terms of office are for a period of up to three years. In the case of an appointed/elected member resigning during his/her term of office the new members term of office will be for the remaining term of the retiring member.
