Library Service - Complaints

Mr Cornwell - asked the Minister for Urban Services:

(1) How many complaints from.the public concerning

ACT Library Service books were received in

(a) 1990-91 and (b) 1991-92.

(2) How many books were involved in each of those years.

(3) What were the general reasons for the complaints.

(4) What action was taken as a result of these

complaints.

Mr Connolly - the answer to the Members question is:

(1) & (2) No formal complaints were received by the ACT Library Service on the quality or content of books during either 1990-91 or 1991-92.

(3) Enquiries received by the ACT Library Service

relate to the number of copies and the currency

of books available on a particular subject.

(4) Within the available book budget subject gaps in

the collection have been rectified.
