QUESTION NO. 370

Protection of Lands Legislation

Ms Follett - asked the Minister for Finance and Urban Services

(1) Are there any proposals to update the

Protection of Lands Act 1937

(2) If the answer to (1) above is yes (a) what are

the details of the proposals and where-did they

originate; (b) what is the Governments attitude to

the proposals; and (c) what timetable is envisaged

for any amendments approved by the Government.

Mr Duby - the answer to the Members question is as follows:

The Government has no immediate proposals to update the Protection of Lands Act 1937. Nevertheless, the Government proposes to incorporate into the proposed new ACT land and planning legislation package all parts of the Act that refer to land.
